Ora H. Rostad papers, 1965-1999.

The collection contains correspondence (1968-1969) and materials concerning the revisions of the Mining Law of 1872, Rostad's proposed revision, and copies of legislation proposed to address this issue. Other issues actively addressed by Rostad in the 1970s and 1980s include Federal land management, energy, and mineral resources. Also included are files of Rostad's correspondence, 1966-1971, 1979.

Ora H. Rostad was a geologist, based in Colorado, who specialized in exploration and mining. He worked in many mining companies, 1944-1956, both nationally and internationally, and then for American Metal Climax, Inc. (AMAX Exploration), 1956-1982; thereafter he continued as a consultant. He supported the revision of the Mining Law of 1872 in the late 1960s and took active interest with political issues involving natural resources, energy, labor, taxation, and the environment among others. ...
